Pedal assist stopped working on BBS02

Thank you. I have the C500 unit and there is no error codes on the display, and none in the settings.

Pedal assist stopped working on BBS02

Yeah, come to think of it, I guess so. Also at one point the magnet for the speed sensor had fallen off, but I found it and put it back in. I am sorry that I forgot those facts while trying to troubleshoot this. Sometimes my brain moves too fast. :)

Pedal assist stopped working on BBS02

I didn't mess with the settings, but it's possible that a friend of mine did when he was taking the bike for a spin. It did stop working not long after he took it for a ride. He didn't tell me he touched anything but maybe he did :)

Pedal assist stopped working on BBS02

Me again! The pedal assist stopped working on my BBS02 after only 2 days of riding. I have looked through other forums, and I understand that I probably need to open the motor and check the controller wires, but before I go taking my bike apart again, I wanted to double check to see if anyone...

Chain ring too close to frame

Oh yeah. Without a doubt. I am 100 percent responsible. I might not even return the 42T. I never meant to say they needed to solve my problem. I just said I'd email and see what they say. I'll make a decision from there. Thank you. Sorry if I was confusing.

Chain ring too close to frame

Well, they sold me the 42T Lekkie for $85 and told me it would solve my problem and it didn't.

Thank you. I did get longer screws. I will think about the spacer. I am going to email California Ebike, where I got the Lekkie from, and see what they say.

    Thank you all so much

From when I couldn't even decide whether to convert a bike to an eBike or buy a pre-made eBike, to deciding what motor to get, to help installing everything, this forum has been a total Godsend. I am happy to report that my 2019 Trek Marlin 5 is now an eBike, with a Bafang Mid-Drive Motor...

Chain ring too close to frame

Update! The Lekkie 42T Bling Ring arrived in the mail, and it was almost as wide as the 52T from the kit, and had the same problem. It would have rubbed on the frame if I had installed it. So, I went back to the idea of spacers, and installed the 52T ring with 3 really small washers on each...

Chain ring too close to frame

Haha yeah, exactly. I've only ruined about $40 worth of parts from the bike during my conversion. Not horrible. :)

Great point. Yeah I am fine with experimenting for a while. Should be fun.

Chain ring too close to frame

Haha yeah. Me too. That's half the point of this project for me. I could have bought a Rad ebike a month ago for less than it's cost me to buy a used bike, an ebike kit, and tools but I wouldn't have learned anything.

Chain ring too close to frame

Cool. Thank you. I'm going to go with the 42t that California Ebikes recommended for the moment and I'll buy a 46 later if I think I'd like to try it. Hopefully I'm almost done spending money on this project. :) But it's fine. I've learned a ton.

Chain ring too close to frame

I will definitely post when it's finished :) The issue is that the frame curves inward from back to front so that the stock rings just fit and the larger 52t ring stretches out to past where it curves in. Haha I hope that makes sense.

Chain ring too close to frame

When everything was tightened it was touching. I emailed California Ebikes and they recommended a 42T chainring so I ordered that. I think I will be happy.

I just discovered that buying appropriate spacers isn't as easy as I imagined. I ordered a Bling Ring and will have to wait a few days. I'll try to practice patience!

Thank you. Yeah I will need longer screws and some spacers. I live near a Fastenal. I will bring in the existing motor, chain ring, and screws. The guys in there live for helping figure out stuff like this.

Chain ring too close to frame

Thank you. I did always assume I might end up switching chain rings at some point. I just never thought I'd buy one that wasn't sized right for my bike. But I guess that's how I learn. Trial by fire. :)

Haha. Thank you. I like your attitude.

Thanks. I like the spacer idea because I don't have to wait for new parts, but not sure if it's the safest idea. :)
