    IZIP E3 Zuma Video Review

Part of the problem is the boss locations on the rear frame of the Zuma. I've included some pictures so that you can see where my problem is. On the left side of the bike, there are two holes that are side by side and they are right below where the brake caliper is. On the right side, the two...

    IZIP E3 Zuma Video Review

OK, so I *TRIED* to install a rear rack on this bike today to no avail. I'm financially challenged, so I couldn't afford the Topeak rack that I wanted (planned on writing about it on a blog that I've started). I ended up finding a "generic" rack by Transit (TD 1 model) on sale at a local...

    Alibaba and Chinese Vendors

I agree that most things are made in China, but there are still varying degrees of quality even within that realm. You can source your parts to a cheap manufacturer or you can source to a better manufacturer, even in China. You then have to look at the support available for any given brand...

    Alibaba and Chinese Vendors

I think the biggest problem, especially with the Chinese manufacturers, is that there are simply so many of them and they all generally look like they use the same bike, they just stick a different label on it. I play around with Alibaba and Aliexpress every now and then and the vast majority...

    solar charging

You are going to need a relatively generous solar panel set up to get any real charge to a battery. The small panels that can fold up that you can put into a backpack generally do not put out enough voltage to charge the battery and if they do, it isn't going to be done fast enough for most...

A Break-In Period With My Battery?

Quite frankly, do what the manufacturer says to do with it and call it a day. I get tired of all the endless debate and what not on batteries - they're going to wear out and fail eventually anyway. Sure, maybe you can do something in between to mitigate that a bit, but I'm not going to take my...

    246 lbs. 5'9" 52-year-old

Frankly, if you shop around, you can *probably* pick up a manufactured bike for about the same price. I know around here, many retailers had their e-bikes on clearance for 50% or more off MSRP and that brought many of the prices down to $1600 or less for iZip, Diamondback, and other...

    IZIP E3 Zuma Video Review

I was looking at those as well, but I haven't had the money to do anything with the bike at the moment.

why do folks want a higher watt motor?

    Totally agree with you there.

    IZIP E3 Zuma Video Review

I'd say get it - I picked mine up just below $1300 (it was already on sale for around 50% off and then they gave me a few hundred more off of that) and they are nearly three grand new. As you can see from what I posted above, I went 20 miles and only lost a bar of battery, so I think iZip's max...

should i buy a smarter charger??

I've been reading up on EV's recently (as I'm looking at getting one) and that seems to be the sweet spot to keep batteries - not at 100% and not below like 20%. I think the only people I've talked to who have had any real degradation issues with their batteries are some of the early Nissan...

Thoughts on joining local bike club organized rides

This sort of reminds me of my motorcycling days where certain groups/clubs would shun anyone who didn't own a Harley. What difference does it make what you're riding? If it was a race, I would totally understand. But if it is just a casual ride or fundraiser or something like that, who cares...

why do folks want a higher watt motor?

That's kind of ironic because it seems like the vast majority of people buying the e-bikes are older people and not younger people. Oh well....

should i buy a smarter charger??

Another thought is just to do what the manufacturer of your particular bike and/or battery says to do. I get the obsession over this - to a certain point. I know these things aren't cheap and I'm financially challenged as it is so I should probably care more about this than I do. However, I'm...

    IZIP E3 Zuma Video Review

Not too bad, but I'm definitely sore now. Luckily the bike landed on its left side and because the handlebars are so wide, they kept all the important bits (brakes, motor, etc.) off the ground - I wasn't so lucky :)
