Bafang display Compatibility .... new install

We've just installed a new 48v BBSO2B kit hoping to use a newer TransXPST battery (48v) from an older Raleigh. We used just the red/black leads from the battery (2 others not used) to the red/black motor leads. The display, 850C, illuminates for 5 seconds and shuts off. Battery voltage is 52.9...

    I’m fitting a 750 watt, 48 v Bafang … should I use a 500 watt instead? It’s in a Raleigh e-bike with a bad motor. It’s for a Senior citizen.

Raleigh was Class 1, 350 watt. I would do this only for safety and control ability. While I have the time should I exchange this for a 500 watt kit. I know some adjustments can be made, but should I have ordered the 500 watt kit, as more suitable for older rider. I’m fairly competent technically...

Help with Bafang fit in Raleigh spirit ...

Thanks very much Dewey. If I could ask a bit more. Looks like a Bafang will fit (about 3/8+" to work with). I'm a pretty healthy 75 year old, former runner, 175 lbs, occasional biker. I Like this project. My goal is to have a smooth riding ebike, little need to exceed 20 mph, all good roads...
