    Suggestions for mini folding bike

I'm interested in the same kit, although I'm over the weight limit of the bike and Brompton does not suggest using a trailer like a Travoy that attaches to the seat post. I'm in that hole with my current folder, a Montague Paratrooper Pro, but I'm liking it better since I put on Jones Loop Bars-...

frustrated rant: the more i learn the more i cant find an ebike

Hmmm, can you say BIONX? That's what I've got now, unfortunately. People had the same view of that kit before the company tanked, and now if I want to keep the motor I'll have to get the battery rebuilt- maybe not if I want to forgo some functions of the console. I'll take a Bafang BBSHD if I...

Choosing between folding bikes & the local shops that sell them

The Brompton fold is sooo tidy. Yeah, with what I put into this bike, I could've, should've, would've, with what I know now... I'm definitely interested in waiting for the e-Brompton (Grin was out of kits a week or so ago-haven't checked since.) Maybe I won't be over the Brommie's rider weight...

First Ride - very sore butt!?!

Which size C9 did you get? For my weight their website suggests the 12" x 12" seat, but that seems huge.

First Ride - very sore butt!?!

I don't know- I'm dealing with similar problems- I was told by folks at LBS that multiple hand positions will definitely help prevent numb hands. I bought but haven't put on Jones Loop H Bar handlebars so that I can ride more upright, I hope it helps because I can't do a whole lot more to my bike.

frustrated rant: the more i learn the more i cant find an ebike

I caution anyone from getting a proprietary system. I want to be able to fix things myself rather than rely on a dealer.

Choosing between folding bikes & the local shops that sell them

I actually prefer 20" wheels. The fold for 20" wheels is more compact and much simpler. I actually have a Monty and I've considered a BBSHD conversion, but I've learned to really hate this bike... I'm trying to make peace with it for lack of better alternatives. I've had problems with the...

Over50's Tern Vektron S10 Chronicles (Gen 1 and Gen 2)

I would consider a Vectron if it had the CX motor instead. I don't consider the price they want for it worthwhile with that motor- I need torque, not speed- and I'm reluctant to get something with proprietary batteries. Still, it's too bad Tern doesn't give options like RM does, it would be nice...

COURT - Your thoughts on Selecting a Compact / Folding.

I'm looking at sturdy, versatile folders that I could take on a bus, Amtrak, and would carry my weight w/o stressing the frame too much... I don't think that there is anything out of the box that serves my needs. The Vectron is too expensive for what you get, and I'd rather have a powerful motor...

    Amtrak Weight Limit for Bikes

Amtrak does allow e-bikes: Electric bicycles under 50 lbs. are allowed in checked baggage and on trains with walk-on bicycle service. Gas-powered motorized bicycles are prohibited.

    Amtrak Weight Limit for Bikes

Another reason to ride a folding bike! Here's what Amtrak has to say about folders: Folding bicycles under the dimensions of 34" x 15" x 48" (860 x 380 x 1120 mm) will be allowed onboard all trains in lieu of a piece of baggage. Only certain passenger cars can accommodate folding bicycles as...

Choosing between folding bikes & the local shops that sell them

These are nice! I like how sturdy the Sundeal frame looks. Too bad that Downtube doesn't specify rider weight limits. Giant makes a folder (the Expressway) that somewhat looks like your Nova and word has it that the rider capacity is around 300 lbs. Don't know that I believe that, and Giant...

Choosing between folding bikes & the local shops that sell them

What is your wife's folder that has a full suspension? I agree that 20" wheels and potholes/dirt roads are tough, but seatpost suspensions can impact how they fold, depending on the bike. I've never ridden a Brommie, but now that REI sells them I considered one- no choice in colors- red is...

Report on long term use of 2 e bikes

The benefit for me is my health. I was (I’m ashamed to admit) 70 lbs less when I rode my non-motorized mountain bike everywhere, stacked with groceries, laundry, whatever. An ebike will make that so much more pleasurable. I will die sooner if I don’t lose this weight. I want to enjoy whatever...

Choosing between folding bikes & the local shops that sell them

Which Tern did you ride? A couple have Bosch motors, but I think that one still uses the 350W Bafang. I’ve thought about adding a BBSHD on a Link D8. You know, folding bikes with small wheels without motors are sluggish. It’s a compromise between how portable you need your transportation to be...

That would be difficult with a Radmini :)

    Suggestions for mini folding bike

I don’t know about the inventory thing- maybe has something to do with potential tariffs on imported aluminum and steel? The bikes Luna uses are old, so if they are out, they’re permanently out.

    Suggestions for mini folding bike

I need a folder because I can’t bring a regular bike inside university buildings, and bikes locked outside are stolen very quickly here. I used to put my Tern in a shopping cart when I went grocery shopping!

    Suggestions for mini folding bike

Yeah, 20” wheels are fun for short rides, not so much for distance. I’m considering the Luna folder now because it is lightweight, but I know that I’d stress the frame with my current weight. Maybe if I change the tires to as large as the rims will accept and use a Thudbuster or whatever. I need...

    Suggestions for mini folding bike

Heh, heh, I haven’t figured out yet how to stop the spellchecker on my iPad... Yeah, it wasn’t so long ago that I was 40 lbs less than today- graduate school can do that- if I just get something to ride I will lose weight. I wonder what 16” wheels are like? 20” are squirrelly enough. If I plead...
