    Gazelle 380+ vs 380 range

While wind resistance does indeed go up with the square of the speed, this is the wind resistance Force. The situation for battery life is worse than this , because the wind resistance power required to double the speed goes u with the cube of the speed, so battery life is affected by a factor...

    Enviolo slippage

While the Enviolo might be capable of slipping, I wouldnot expect that to happen, and I cannot envisage a mechanism that causes a "pop" noise. However I have heard a very occasional "pop" noise from my own C380+, which I attribute t oone of the 2 freewheels in the drive train. Why do you believe...

    Replace or Upgrade Intuvia

I have a Gen2 drive unit with an Intuvia controller, and have had some issues with it. One issue has been that if you start it up by pressing the Intuvia on switch, the display comes on, but without the speedo reading of 0.0. and no assist is available. While debugging this issue, I read the...

Can we really trust Bosch latest software information website

This is all the more important as Bosch distances themselves from end users, the cyclists, by having Bosch dealers perform the upgrades. Many of these dealers are barely aware that "upgrades" are happening, and in the event of a bad upgrade it seems to be a considerable escalation through Bosch...

Can we really trust Bosch latest software information website

And 6 days later, the Bosch web site has 4.0.4.0 as the latest Kiox firmware. So come on Bosch people, what is in it, and why would I want this update.

Can we really trust Bosch latest software information website

I could say never, but then we never exactly know what's in a software update, certainly not enough to know how rash it might be to update immediately an update is announced. But I think something is going on with firmware updates at the moment, which is why I'm posting here rather than in a...

    Ultimate 380 vs 380+ at 20 mph

So should I infer from that that you do not have a class 3 bike? My thinking matched yours until I bought the C380+. It wasn't going over 20mph that drained the single battery fast, it was the hills, probably assisted by too low a pedalling cadence. The Purion display also doesn;t let you...

    Ultimate 380 vs 380+ at 20 mph

You might consider taking the MSF (Motorcycle Safety Foundation) class. They provide the bikes, and it's all done in large parking lots, and you won't see 28mph, but it might give you some insights into the skills required for slightly higher speeds. There's more there than most people consider.

    Ultimate 380 vs 380+ at 20 mph

A very open ended question. Compare on what basis? If I want to be positive, the 380 will have a lot more range left because if you use the battery to go over 20mph, much of that energy will be lost to aero drag. The power used goes up with the cube of the speed, so it takes 2.7 times as much...

New Features for Nyon2 scheduled april 2022

I've noticed they weren't posting much, but didn't see any official withdrawal. But that's a tough job, to be tasked with being helpful while having lawyers and managers insisting on continual parroting of the company line. Stockholm syndrome maybe?

New Features for Nyon2 scheduled april 2022

Thank you Peter, I've just verified that I can use the quick menu on both 2.0.3.0 and 3.0.0.0. I had not realized that there are a range of functions in the quick access menu, accessible by thge left and right arrow buttons; I'd previously only seen the riding modes one. After making a selection...

Going to a larger front chain ring on a gen 4 motor

Thanks Alaskan. It sounds like you took an informed gamble and won. For all the same reasons as you, I would like to go from a 40T chain ring and an 11-36 9 speed cassette to a 52T chain ring and an 11-42 cassette. I can't find an11-42 cassette in 9 speed, so I have to change to a 10 speed. And...

Going to a larger front chain ring on a gen 4 motor

William, thanks for your explanation of all this process. I'll reserve my opinion on the necessity of it being this way, but as I have 2 Trek bikes which need this done, it seems I need a little more explanation of the process. I took this post of yours to my LBS who is a Trek dealer, and of...

New Features for Nyon2 scheduled april 2022

So far I've kept my Nyon on the previous update, the one before 3.0.0.0. With this FW rev, access to riding modes was easy, a press on the diamond button, and there they were. After the latest update access is now harder; the only thing the diamond button shows you is easier access to clearing...

Bosch shift detection - what does it do?

I know this thread started in 2016; can those who have knowledge of the current Bosch internal workings update us for the Drive Units of today? It's my understanding that there are 2 software versions for each unit, one for IGHs and one for derailleurs. As I understand it, the IGH version just...

Bosch extended battery installation labor cost

Your concern is justified. Last time I talked to a bike shop about this, they kept saying they'd seen a training video on it, but had never done one, that it should take only! 4 hours, but they wouldn't guarantee that. And they would bill at about $120/hour, and you'd just have to pay to cover...

man getting the tandem wired for two batteries is a bit crazy.

I don't know why you would want to even think about splicing cables, aspecially as you keep saying warranty is a concern to you. AS you know from your Trek dual battery setup, you need your original battery to Drive unit cable, and also a Dual Battery cable, and a Frame Battery cable, as well as...

man getting the tandem wired for two batteries is a bit crazy.

Which generation of Bosch drive unit does your Gepida have? Post a photo of the left side of the drive unit.

finally got the extended battery mount up and running.

So now you have it finally working, do yout batteries stay within +- 5% of each other as mine do, or do you still believe they stay within 1% as you said before.
