New York’s proposed e-bike rebate could slash electric bike and scooter prices by 50%

NYS offers a rebate on one hand, but makes it illegal to ride an ebike almost anywhere in the state beside NYC. Regardless of “class,” current state law says it’s illegal to ride on any road with a posted speed limit above 30 mph. Thats about 95% of state roads. Good luck commuting. Makes no...

Our Rides in Words, Photos & Videos

Holy crap. Hail storms like that have always been a nightmare for me as I enjoy auto detailing. I imagine the body on that red car is pretty much totaled. Doubt those dents will all come out.

Known Issues & Problems with Aventon Products + Help, Solutions, & Fixes

Thanks for all of your thoughts, Jason! I appreciate it. Right now, riding in the highest gear feels more like riding in the second highest used to feel like. Even that feels like it’s trying to get ahead of me just a smidge. I’ll check out the derailleur and make sure the chain is hopping...

Known Issues & Problems with Aventon Products + Help, Solutions, & Fixes

Odd thing…..I just got my Pace 500 back from the bike shop where they were working on the brake pads and rotors Since getting it back, I notice that I am over pedaling the motor a bit. In other words, I usually ride on PAS 4 with the gear on the second highest setting. This usually gives me a...

Highly visible night-time helmet with visor

I think I have a big a$$ head, because I always have a tough time finding a hat or cap to fit me, let alone a bike helmet. I was happy to find one that fit well after test fitting at a few stores, so I guess I feel beggars can’t be choosers in my case. Since my helmet cannot accept a face...

Should an Allen Wrench be stored with your wrenches or your screwdrivers?

^^^ I see you’re like me and you arrange each tool partially adjacent to the tool which you should have used in the first place.

    MIK Pizza Rack

Hey, you did a really great job on that! Make more, and you could probably market them. Truth: This thread inspired me to order a pizza for dinner tonight. Sadly, it was picked up in my Jeep, not on my bike. :(

So what's your other hobbies or interests?

My favorite hobby is jigsaw puzzles. I’m actually quite good at making my own out of wood using a scrollsaw. Aside from that, just putting them together. I also enjoy general woodworking. I prefer to make small intricate things (anything that can sit on a desk, such as a fancy box, etc)...

Back on the saddle after 7 weeks of no riding

Another thought (sorry to triple post) would be to take periodic stops and stretches. With what you’ve been going through, it might be your body’s way of saying “thanks for the workout but can you go easy on me?” ;) Think of it as the ol’ 7th Inning Stretch at a ball game.

Back on the saddle after 7 weeks of no riding

Other thoughts would be to try increasing your upper body stretches before and after biking? Maybe what you are feeling is some muscle tightening/spasm. If there is a massage therapist your way, that might also help to loosen upper body muscle tension.

Back on the saddle after 7 weeks of no riding

Does your bike have an adjustable stem, where you can bring the handles a bit higher?

Back on the saddle after 7 weeks of no riding

My first thought would be looking into a bike with more upright geometry if that is at all an option for you (not sure how upright yours currently is). It can really make a difference for people with all sorts of back issues (and will take the weight off your hands, arms and shoulders as well)...

    Hello from Western NY!

Thanks! I love my bag. 🙂 Here is the one from the picture: https://www.bertsbikes.com/product/giant-scout-mik-trunk-bag-397065-1.htm I like it a lot as it has plenty of room for the stuff you mentioned. I actually just put a fresh loaf of bread in it from a local farmers market last week...

Known Issues & Problems with Aventon Products + Help, Solutions, & Fixes

I have an Aventon 500 Pace v2, and find that pedaling feels very natural and comfortable at PAS 3-4, while traveling at 18 mph, and the bike in its second highest gear. That‘s my Nirvana when I’m pedaling to work each day. :)
