Known Issues & Problems with Priority Bicycles Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

When a bunch of my rear wheel spokes had broken after a handful of rides, I was faced with the same issue. Priority acknowledges that their stock spokes are rubbish. So I bought some quality stainless ones of the correct length thru eBay, and spent a few days on YouTube learning (more about... I...

Known Issues & Problems with Priority Bicycles Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

Although I'm mostly unable to hear that type of sound, I'd venture to say it's quite normal indeed. That would be the "clicking" made by ratcheting pawls in the drivetrain, kind of like you'd hear in an old 10-speed with a loud derailleur.

No doubt it is normal, so I'm glad you mentioned it. Full disclosure: I am largely deaf in the high-frequency sound range, so would never notice the noise myself. 🙃

Known Issues & Problems with Priority Bicycles Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

Priority/Gates sanction higher tensions; in fact, they specifically advise off-road users in muddy conditions to raise the tension proactively (into the 50's, I believe) to prevent slippage and to assist with self-clearing debris. These belts are really robust, so I wouldn't worry about it. I've...

Known Issues & Problems with Priority Bicycles Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

PEDAL STRIKES Due to the rather low road-to-pedal clearance on the Current (perhaps on step-thru bikes in general?), which is easily 1/2" less than my other bikes, I'm having to fine tune my pedal and/or spacer selection to avoid striking pavement in tight turns. Though I normally take pains...

Known Issues & Problems with Priority Bicycles Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

Just in case anyone else is in the market for a folding lock that fits the (Large-size) Current's seat tube well, I got an Abus Bordo Combo 6100/90 from eBay that sits snugly and securely in that spot. Leaves my water bottle cage and drink bottle plenty of room in the down tube bracket. I'd...

Priority Current Shimano 5 speed - First impressions

I know a lot of devout MTB riders swear by "swept" handlebars, like the Jones Loop H-Bar shown in this list. But before you go that route, may I suggest further tweaking of (a) your handlebar rotation (so that grips are closest to your body position, and level), and (b) your seat (sliding it...

Priority Current Shimano 5 speed - First impressions

I'm surprised that the rotating stem in its almost vertical position wouldn't be high enough for nearly any rider, but I know for sure there are stem extensions out there that let you lift it up several more inches. Check on Amazon!

Priority Current - Instructions & Maintenance Videos

Today I finally checked and tensioned my Gates Carbon Drive belt. The Gates app on my phone indicated the starting tension was around "27", with recommended range being 35-50. What made me check it was that it skipped a tooth under heavy pedaling twice yesterday, and I didn't want that...

Priority Current - Instructions & Maintenance Videos

Yeah I know you are right about needing a new wheel but I've never built one with an ENVIOLO hub so am trying to milk the learning curve as long as I can first.

Priority Current - Instructions & Maintenance Videos

I normally would, too, except that (a) all of our local bike shops are booked several weeks out, (b) I'm a heavy rider who keeps breaking rear spokes (1-2 per ride), and (c) I don't want to sit idle for days just because of that. I'll continue replacing spokes as needed, but only need to...

HOW TO REBUILD AND TRUE THE REAR WHEEL ON A CURRENT (ENVIOLO) Method 1 - The Easy Way Bring your bike to your trusty LBS and pay them to service your wheel. Done! Method 2 - I'm a Pro or a Masochist Set aside a couple of hours to follow these steps carefully: Spend remaining money on a truing...

Priority Current Shimano 5 speed - First impressions

I've been nothing short of impressed by the overall battery capacity on this bike. Word on the street is that it actually gets better the more you ride, as if there is some magical power curve balancing algorithm at play behind the scenes. I just rode 11 miles in (mostly) Assist Level 2, and...

Priority Current - Delivery & Assembly - Initial Feedback

I should have been more specific, sorry. The cutting is done into the fairly hard rubber outer end of the grip, which necessitates using either a utility knife or spade bit on a drill or something like that which can help you trace out a hole. The hole diameter need not match that of the...

Priority Current - Delivery & Assembly - Initial Feedback

You have to cut a small hole through the end of the handgrip, then insert the two-part wedge mechanism of the Mirrycle into the opening and tighten it in place. Its ingenious design lets you angle and tilt the mirror very precisely and, if you tighten the allen bolts just so, it stays in place...

Priority Current - Delivery & Assembly - Initial Feedback

Yes, I've always loved the Mirrycle mirror, so I bought and installed one of those on my left handlebar grip. Really can save my bacon on a busy road with passing traffic. I actually think drivers act "better" (drive less agressively) when they see I'm looking at them in my mirrors. (My 2nd...

Priority Current - Delivery & Assembly - Initial Feedback

OMG 1000x yes. So much packaging, it took me another 2-3 days to clear it all out via the Recycling and Trash bins out front. :-) I even managed to create a whole other cardboard box, to ship out an eBay item, by cutting large squares out of the sides of the outer container. Saved all the zip...

Priority Current - Delivery & Assembly - Initial Feedback

SPOKES Turns out I'm still a heavy rider, and I've managed to bust 3 or more of my rear spokes in just under 90 miles of riding. For reference sake, here's the spec for all models: Front wheel L: 268mm/ 13g spoke (2.3mm) Front wheel R: 269mm/ 13g spoke (2.3mm) Rear wheel Shimano L: 247mm/ 13g...

Priority Current Shimano 5 speed - First impressions

Totally concur on running the tires closer to 40 PSI for comfort! I, too, have noticed the occasional "lurching" at higher assist levels (4 or 5) but they seem to be timed with high acceleration, such as getting up to speed from a standstill. My Rhinowalk rack bag pannier should arrive in the...

Priority Current - Delivery & Assembly - Initial Feedback

WARNINGS 1. Be aware that, without a proper motor cut-off switch in the braking system, the Current can (and will, under certain predictable circumstances) lurch forward. This will typically happen while stopped, if you have dismounted without turning off the display or setting it back to Level...
