Builder gone to the dark side.

Yes I did it. Ms and I celebrate 50 years on Friday. I've been maintaining her bike that I built but she's always fussed about the zip ties and plethora of misc. wires. So I went dark, Electra Townie 5i step through in violet fade. I just might get lucky. She's one that prefers a bike over diamonds and bling. I'm blessed!View attachment 158550
Happy Anniversary. Nice gift.

"Flat foot/crank forward geometry"
Road bikes or race bikes, have the ridder on top of the pedals. It is efficient but not all that comfortable. With a slack geo(metry), the seat tube angles back and the feet are forward. Lowrider bikes are an exaggeration of this. When coming to a stop the rider can then set their feet on the tarmac while in the saddle.

Congrats and what a sweet gesture from you to celebrate your 50th anniversary with your wife!

Well that settles that. It’s not my cuppa. She loves it. And is safe from me absconding with it. I nearly fell twice. Just too high for a step through, for me. That said I REALLY understand now why Boschivites are so dogmatic. Clearly a great motor and battery. The Tektro hydraulics are spot on.

In the end I’m back to where I started, and for me the best options are my builds.
A new BBSxx will be ordered soon. Just need to decide if I want another 36V, 01B, 48V 02B, or back to the beast, the HD.

I tried and the fact that there’s no throttle leaves me in a lurch. My disability make taking off from a complete stop very unstable as I just don’t have the leg strength. A throttle start is something I can’t live without. Although on a stable trike I can pedal start. I also came to realize I’d have to greatly reduce my range sans throttle.

The girl is happy and after all it’s for her

And you have to admit it looks nice. Certainly better than most home built bikes. For that matter, better than most of the bikeshop or dtc bikes.

Having forayed into the dark side I've made a quick recovery and ordered medicine, a new BBSHD.

Sounds more to me like you're just keeping an open mind....

You're right Al. I just like eBikes. If I were fully able an Electra eBike would be in my stable. That said one eBike would never be enough. The BBSHD remains in the top 4 ebike motors, for me.

My question is same ,why Boschivites are so dogmatic?

My question is same ,why Boschivites are so dogmatic?
It is Boschivites, Broseites, Mahleites, Yamahaites, Shimanoites, and TQites to name a few sects.
Namely, those who think the quality does not come below the scrap metal price :D
"Friends do not let friends buy Bafang" :)

My wife had that same bike for her first e-bike. They make a white basket that attaches to the handlebars with a quick release. It was the first thing she bought for it.

It is funny, I am in the middle. I like motors that can be installed on any bike and are not proprietary and are user programmable with the right to repair, but I also agree that ghost pedaled Bafangs with throttles are dumb junk.

Well, she HATES not having a throttle, and I despise the Bosch. This is gonna hurt. Resale $$ are awful!
Does anyone in Minnesota want to win on my loss?

Ignorance.

Learn how to program.
