Thanks, but I much prefer the Blackburn Outpost. I now use them on both my e-bikes. IMO the Mahle cage is not very attractive - I would never buy an actual bottle cage that looked like it!
It works really well. The extender battery is held very firmly. As I posted on the other forum you need longer straps (400x25 mm) than those supplied with the Blackburn Outpost.
Correction: Orbea use the Mahle X35 system on flat bar bikes, as do many other brands. I'm well over 70 years old and have ridden drop bar bikes for more than 60 of those years without 'bashing my head into trees signs & culverts'.
I have 2 bikes with X35 motors. But only one Mahle range extender. I am trying to find an alternative to the ugly overpriced Mahle bottle holder to fit to the second bike so that I do not have to swap the OE holder between bikes. Has anyone found anything suitable?
I'm in the UK. they can be ordered direct from Orbea, and their dealers. Other retailers also stock them as they can be used with any X35 equipped ebike. Ribble for example.
I finally gave up on trying to order an extender from Volabike to the UK as after numerous emails they never managed to send me an invoice without Spanish VAT added, although they had suggested this initially. As I understand matters I could have ended up paying both Spanish and UK VAT and...
I have found communication with Volabike difficult. I requested an invoice without Spanish VAT as the UK is no longer part of the EU and VAT is now payable in the UK, but have not heard back.
I use the app on my phone, mounted on the bars. so I rarely look at the button. I find using the Iwoc button without looking no more difficult than changing gear on a bike with down tube shifters.
I was thinking about fitting a Pulsar One to a Ribble SLe, but having read a the above thread I don't think I will yet.
Having now owned an Orbea Gain for over 3 years, it was only earlier this year that I finally realised that to decrease power levels quickly, press the IWOC button quickly -...
70 Km is about the best for me too, but I can no longer ride an unassisted bike due to PAD so I am using some level of assistance most of the time. I actually get better range when riding with the club group, as it can be easier when drafting to maintain speeds over the 15.5mph cut-off if...
It's almost worth getting a phone for dedicated use on the Gain. I bought a Motorola (long battery life) for just this purpose. It costs me £6 month on a SIM only contract - and I can use it as a phone as well of course if I ever need to!
Problem is IWOC button is performing 2 main functions - battery level: white - green - orange - red- flashing red, but also indicates assistance level briefly when this is changed. It takes some getting used to. I tend to use the app to remind me of assistance level, and to give a battery charge...
