    Specialized Vado 5 problems

Jan, my riding partner rarely shifts, so her cadence is slow and fast. The power never cuts out. The assist always is invisible. The resistance to the leg on a push of the pedals does not ever surge. This is the pleasure we paid a premium for.

    Specialized Vado 5 problems

I'm not a mechanic, but we have 2 Specialized Comos, same drivetrain as you. Our bikes perform smoothly at all cadence. We bought theses because they felt so silky smooth regarding the power delivery and also it was a giant business, Specialized, who would stand behind this new technology...

    Como 2.0 vs Como 3.0

The battery is bigger on the 3.0 by 25 per cent, there's that. I have a 3.0 model and me at 250 pounds, riding on full assist, with a fair amount of hills, some steep, I'm out of juice at around 18 miles, which is an hour and a half maybe of riding. Of course I can get 50 miles out of a...

    Specialized Turbo Como 3.0

just checking in at 1,001 miles. Many of the outings are 5 to 7 miles, so I feel pretty good at posting 1000 miles. The neighborhoods here are very steep hills, as an example, Jan and I went out on Sunday; I was at 18 miles for the trip and ran out of power. I was at full assist on these...

    Specialized Turbo Como 3.0

One of the Specialized bike shops here told me he could switch out my chainring.

    Specialized Turbo Como 3.0

For my Como riding partner and me, the gearing is good. She lives in the west hills of Portland Oregon and there are many neighborhoods with long steep climbs that we will be in low gear for a quarter mile and more stretches and have to stop and take breaks. But I get that if you're in the...

    Specialized Turbo Como 3.0

That is good motivation for me to get up and ride. I see the American Specialized web site is listing a new Como 5.0 (here). Bigger battery, our motor is listed as 1.2 rev, this is 1.3, I'd be interested to hear if any pedal characteristics changed and how much. It's interesting to see that...

    Specialized Turbo Como 3.0

So that was a 50 something mile ride? Pretty cool. It's fun to hear of your rides. It's refreshing to hear of others who are using the bikes just for fun instead of commuting and shopping. You can use your wife's como for spare parts. I think some of the battery concern is because we...

    Specialized Turbo Como 3.0

I've watched all those Specialized videos on Youtube over time, of Switzerland engineers and california vice presidents yak about Specialized electric bikes mountain bikes, vados, and in in general. Somewhere I remember they told me that their chargers are programmed for all that 80/20 stuff...

    Specialized Turbo Como 3.0

I knew what you meant. I like that long steel frame on the RANS, it acts like a springboard, such a unique laidback luxury position. and now the electric Specialized. Ahhh...., these are the finer things in life I think many would say.

Ha, I've got a RANS recumbent too, Stratus LE. It's been hanging on my wall for ten years, there are just too many hills around here. Thanks for posting! Good stuff.

The Kinekt works better for Jan since she is lighter. I'm at 260 pounds and I mostly compress the springs. It does take away harsh vibration like you get from a gravel road though. It sounds like you are enjoying your bike. Where do you ride? Let's see pictures, everyone likes pictures...

    Specialized Turbo Como 3.0

Glad to hear you like the mirror on your bike. It's easier than straining my stiff neck for any spook of a sound from behind. I walk the bike down and up the stairs from my 3rd floor apartment a couple times a week for rides, and load it on the back of my car to take to Jan's on the weekend...

odometers and speedometers ... why aren't our two bikes the same?

Just a guess: is there a magnet bolted to the rotor? Many bikes do. Maybe a rotating magnet is a sensor and its covered in particles to where it's gone fuzzy.

    Specialized Turbo Como 3.0

It sounded so fantastical when described to me when by the salesman when I bought the bike: tell it the destination and it will determine elevation changes to give you just the right amount of power that you arrive at your destination with all power expended. Yeah. Right.
