Yes, petroleum based oils especially. Rubber will swell and split. Most lube used in conjunction with rubber is silicone based.

Dish soap is what you use to lube tires... I learned this in auto shop in highschool way back when they had auto shop classes... :)

Most oils deteriorate rubber. Do not use oil.
