Even the type 2 firmware requires you to be moving before applying throttle. That said, it's not realistic to expect the tiny GoCycle hub drive to get you started on a hill without any pedal assist -- put the bike in 1st gear and pedal a bit. I bought it in Brooklyn at Propel (great shop!). There are a few smaller ebikes that are lighter, like the GoCycle line of bikes, but I don't know of any full sized bikes in the class that's as light as the Gazelle.

Sorry to hear. I've had a terrible experience with the Minnesota repair center as well. The wiring was bad in my GX, and when I got the bike back it had been packaged so poorly that it was damaged in shipping on the way back. Shipped it back to them, they "fixed" it, and I recently received it...

Incidentally, have you had any issues with your shifters? Mine have started acting weird -- sometimes the actual gear I'm in doesn't match what the shifter window indicates. E.g. sometimes it'll say is between 2nd and 3rd, but is in fact solidly in one of the gears. And so on.

I believe it's a physically identical bike, just different firmware. You should be able to update the firmware by uninstalling and reinstalling the app on your phone and going thru the setup again. Then select the NA firmware. I once accidentally selected the EU firmware and was frustrated by...
