It is one of the great oddities to me that 25kph speed limiters are still in place.
As the world tries to go green / renewal energy etc, do everything you can to encourag people to adopt eBikes and that means allowing them to go at a reasonable speed on them!
I have a SuperCharger 2 with 17,300km on it and my wife has a MultiCharger with around 3,000km on it. I don't have any experience with the Charger.
Both are great bikes - a few thoughts:
Ride Position
On a longer, multiday trip I'd choose the Multicharger. It's more upright, the swept...
Hi All,
feels like this forum has been pretty quiet over the last 6months or so.
I've been thinking about the ROI on my Supercharger 2 as I've just ticked over 17,000km at the 5.5yr mark (I didn't ride it for nearly 9 months after wrecking my knee and multiple surgeries, and it also competes...
Bought around the same time, 15,500km on my first belt too. Much of my riding is spread across multiple bikes these days but great to hear you’re getting high km out of your one @peterh_nz !
I also live in a very flat city (good thing) so don't really need the super low gears for climbing that both the Enviolo and the Rohloff have - just need the higher end for faster speeds :)
I have a Rohloff in my other bikepacking bike (non electric) and love it - it's simply they're not that...
@Chazmo It's a Riese & Muller SuperCharger 2. There is no room between the frame and the chainring for a larger front chain ring, as posted earlier, I could go 1 tooth smaller on the rear sprocket but that won't significantly change things.
Whilst some others have said they have been able to get...
Quite likely.
What was noticeable was I was moving much closer to the speed of cars, so was being over taken less which I hear in theory keeps you safer...if you can be moving at aprox the same speed as traffic there is a reduced chance of an 'incident' ;)
Ok - so I thought I'd borrow my Dad's new HS Rohloff MultiCharger and do my 5km work commute (albeit on a Saturday) and compare it with a random normal commute on my HS Enviolo SuperCharger 2.
This was the "work in" on the HS Rohloff - note the max speed of 42.3kph and average speed of 33.2kph...
LOL - so I rode my Dad's new HS Rohloff Multicharger last night - amazing bike, just a dream to get to 40kph+ with the additional resistance/gearing of the Rohloff compared to my Enviolo.
Now that my 2020 SC 2 is out of warranty I've asked the LBS whether they think it woudl be possible to add...
Quick update on this - my Dad got his new HS Rohloff Multicharger this week. Took it for a ride last night - great bike. He's able to get this on his existing Thule bikerack and he's going to build a box for his dog to go on the back with a MIK adaptor to secure it... will take a photo once done.
Ahh ok that makes sense.
My dad's new Multicharger Mixte HS Rohloff arrives next month I think so I'll be keen to take that for a spin and compare/contrast with my SC2!
I just skimmed through this:
The Charger is looking good and retains the most traditional bike lines.
I’ve got a 2021 SuperCharger 2 … no sign of that being upgraded!!?
Some of these bikes are really “out there” in terms of design look and feel!
Ant that stand out guys?
