Thanks for your detailed response. You're right, I have 0 experience with lithium cells.

That's a nice installation and a better range than I would have guessed.

There are 40v tool batteries and power adapters that would work, but they're only 2-5 AH.

Would a 48V 21AH battery, consisting of quantity 78 18650 lithium cells work well with that AW 35 amp controller? I could get that for $200. https://www.ebay.com/itm/48v-10-5-Ah-GENUINE-Panasonic-Sanyo-500w-E-bike-Battery-Pack/144412543521?pageci=4f2d6b4c-a33d-4ea5-b38d-48a529808c48&redirect=mobile

The size is about 4X their 12V 15ah battery...

Input for long range commuter build?

That's what the Chinese vendor claims. We'll see if and when I get it. It's a shrink wrapped cell pack.

I'm converting an old 26" hardtail mtn bike of mine to a electric road bike. At this point, I have ordered a new oil suspension fork that has disc brake mounting brackets, and will change the front v-brakes to hydraulic disk brakes using a 180 mm rotor. I have also ordered a large 48V (99ah?)...
