What have you learned from your e-bike experiences?

I sometimes forget the differences between the mountain bike and the transportation or bike path bike worlds in what is considered a big issue. Spoke maintenance is like lubing the chain. On mountain bikes and breaking them is a right of passage that sometimes comes with a taco'ed wheel. I am...

That and a large, soft leaf is not out of the question if it comes to it. :D

What have you learned from your e-bike experiences?

This has got to be one of the most wise set of mtb lessons I have ever read.

e-MTB riders — how do you plan your rides? Quick 5-10min survey

I took the survey and it asks some relevant questions...felt legit and did not ask for any personal information.

What have you learned from your e-bike experiences?

I bought my wife a cheaper e-trike a few years back off Amazon, and it was one of those no name brands from whoknowswhereastan. It wasn't an e-trike. It was a kit to build an e-trike from a box of parts. It took me about 10 hours to build it with instructions that were partially lost in...

What have you learned from your e-bike experiences?

I am finding that making gnarly, short climbs, like the 30'-50' ones strewn with roots and rocks has become much safer on my emtb. Those climbs are the most dangerous for me if I hit a root and my momentum is stopped, miss a gear or run out of steam. I began a practice of observing what trees...

What have you learned from your e-bike experiences?

I am knocking on the door to half a century old and with a used up body from many, many crashes and injuries from motorcycles and mountain bikes, I was struggling in fitness and pain on my mtb. I just could not get to the fitness level I wanted to really enjoy the sport like I did in my 30s, and...

    Dropper seat-posts, cartridges...

I have a TranzX dropper post with 100mm travel and honestly don't know how I did without a dropper on my mountain bikes in the past. I go up high for easy paths, drop for single track and drop more to get on and off the bike. It's the best thing since sliced bread.

Exercises to improve ability to lift my bicycle

To the original post, as others have said, concentrate on squats and lifting with your legs only, keeping your back straight. The first time I lifted my 53lbs bike on the below rack, I did it with my arms and it was a mistake. Now I squat down a bit to get a low grip and lift with my legs...

Light(est) small Ebike with throttle for disabled wife (5'2")

Have you considered a trike? My wife is also disabled and rides a Retrospec trike. She can sometimes loose balance due to her issues and the trike is stable and holds our little dog. It folds to fit in a SUV, has plenty of power and battery and has a stand alone throttle if she is having...

How much to spend on a ebike?

You can buy a fairly good e-bike for your uses in the $800-$1,200 range and should be happy with it for the most part. My wife bought a Retrospec trike and it has been good to us with quality construction, plenty of power, long battery life and good brakes. On the other hand, I would destroy a...

Help choosing e-MTB full suspension under €4,000

I have a Trek Rail 7 - Gen 3 that should be pretty close to your price range. I've been riding traditional full squish mtb's on single track, moderate to difficult for a few decades and I really enjoy the Rail. It seems to handle the tight single track quite well for its weight but I am not...

    RideWithGPS

I ditched the bike computers and use my iPhone for it, tracking and GPS using Strava and OnX Offroad. It is mounted to my bars with a Quadlock system, and I also use this on my dual sport motorcycles. I download off-line maps just in case and carry a small aux battery in my pack. It works...
