Grin All-Axle update
The motor was all packed up and returned to Grin. Im convinced something in the integrated torque/pas sensor is the problem. I tried negotiating with this in mind to knock off some $$ off the price (torque sensor is more $ than pas only) but they didnt seem to bite...
I would be interested in your setup when you figure it out.
I have played with several dual motor setups using the grin tools, would be fun to play with. All my single motor ebikes are just fine and exceed my expectations but Im a bored engineer with lots of free time and an ebike hobby.
Have...
Definately invest in statorade, you might not need it for your commute but its so easy to do.
You can always use the Grin Trip Simulator to see how the RH212 would perform for you.

Change the input from 'manual plot' to 'google maps' and select your...
Grin All Axle update
Grin responded pretty quickly with some things to change/verify but I am back running the RH212 and erider BB. I dont feel like swapping out motors over and over and am just going to return it.
I dont think the motor was locking up as much as trying to apply maximum regen...
Grin All Axle Install Issues
I have been struggling getting the Grin All Axle motor installed in my Surly Bridge Club. The biggest install issue is the torque arm mount. It either interferes with a a rear brake line zip tie mount or just barely fits with the mount turned around front/back. In...
They are most likely throwaway if you got to a bike dealer.
There are videos on youtube by www.ebikemotorrepair.com showing Brose motor repair. As I recall they use better bearings in some cases.
For a broken belt, you can order a belt and belt tensioning tool. I plan on doing that if/when...
Bridge Club RH212 updates
As mentioned previously, I bought a Surly Bridge Club frameset to play around with hub drives again (second time I have owned one). At the time I purchased the frameset I was thinking of revisiting a Nine Continent RH212 DD hub motor with statorade I have lying around...
Surly Bridge Club/Grin All Axle Motor Build
While my two Soma Juice 29 with mid drives (BBSHD and DM01...LOVE IT) are great bikes for my needs and all that I I really need, I wanted to play with the new Grin All Axle DD Motor and just ordered one. It will be going on a Surly Bridge Club with...
Wait what? How dare anyone question Stefan (i.e. a self taught bike fitter)...what is the world turning into
Stefan is right in that you put more weight on your butt when you raise the bars...no question there, simple physics. It doesnt mean you shouldnt try different things. If you are...
Kudos to Grin for the video, spoke calculator and custom length spokes.
I have built 5 hub motor wheels for my myself and friends.
I did invest in all the tools (park stand, park spoke wrenches, park tension gauge) and I have built all my own wheels since (10 so far). Paid for itself
So do you have any experience building wheels.
As someone noted in another thread "I kindly ask you to give advices only in your field of competence, thank you."
Dont be a Troll (i.e. Stefan)
Most comments on this website speak pretty negatively about the CYC photon. Much of this is because of the "high voltage electric vehicle channel" on youtube. The author there seems to pretty much go all over the place using throttle only and one of his main rides for quite awhile was a high...
While brake cut-outs do exist as you state, they can be easily disconnected.
I 'load up' the bike all the time as you state (on bikes with throttle and cadence only) for the exact reasons you state. Brake cutouts are useless IMHO
