My DIY builds: GMAC, BBSHD, 9C RH212, CYC Photon, ToSeven DM01, Grin All Axle

Bridge Club RH212 updates As mentioned previously, I bought a Surly Bridge Club frameset to play around with hub drives again (second time I have owned one). At the time I purchased the frameset I was thinking of revisiting a Nine Continent RH212 DD hub motor with statorade I have lying around...

Surly Bridge Club/Grin All Axle Motor Build While my two Soma Juice 29 with mid drives (BBSHD and DM01...LOVE IT) are great bikes for my needs and all that I I really need, I wanted to play with the new Grin All Axle DD Motor and just ordered one. It will be going on a Surly Bridge Club with...

    Raise bar height Tero X

Wait what? How dare anyone question Stefan (i.e. a self taught bike fitter)...what is the world turning into Stefan is right in that you put more weight on your butt when you raise the bars...no question there, simple physics. It doesnt mean you shouldnt try different things. If you are...

Has anyone tried building a hub motor wheel with your rim? Is it complicated?

Kudos to Grin for the video, spoke calculator and custom length spokes. I have built 5 hub motor wheels for my myself and friends. I did invest in all the tools (park stand, park spoke wrenches, park tension gauge) and I have built all my own wheels since (10 so far). Paid for itself

So do you have any experience building wheels. As someone noted in another thread "I kindly ask you to give advices only in your field of competence, thank you." Dont be a Troll (i.e. Stefan)

    Best E-Bike Conversion Kit?

Most comments on this website speak pretty negatively about the CYC photon. Much of this is because of the "high voltage electric vehicle channel" on youtube. The author there seems to pretty much go all over the place using throttle only and one of his main rides for quite awhile was a high...

While brake cut-outs do exist as you state, they can be easily disconnected. I 'load up' the bike all the time as you state (on bikes with throttle and cadence only) for the exact reasons you state. Brake cutouts are useless IMHO

DM01 Update #5 My previous comments on the throttle basically being useless wasnt 100% correct as today I tried it on a flat section in Sport Mode (23A) and Assist Level 5 and it got up to about 900W and 26mph at which point it would not go any faster (you could feel the motor stop assisting)...

    Best E-Bike Conversion Kit?

As pedaluma mentions, you really dont need 1000 watts to conquer hills(caveat: if your willing to go slow enough). But you already are used to the BBSHD(weight/power) so the DM01 would likely be a better fit for you. There is no way 500W feels like 1200W climbing unless you just smoked a Vado...

DM01 Update #4 I am coming to terms with the DM01...and liking it. Its not the end all of all ebikes as the To7 whisperer (pedaluma) suggests but its good enough. Until just recently, all my DM01 rides seemed to consume more power than I expected. The bottom line is that I just had it in too...

You seem to be the only one to have the ability to make a T07 motor better than anything else available yet dont want to share how you accomplish that. Since you are not willing to share, I guess there will never be any way to verify your claims which pretty much nullifies any claims you make...

Most of the "Torque Sensor" parameters seem mostly self explanatory. Too bad its in the 30s and snowing now Im curious as to how you are using the EAssist levels From the wiki EAssist levels work a little differently. Unlike the Pwr levels, these aren’t a power cutoff value as such. With the...
