What should I get? New to ebike world?

The Concord line of bikes sold and shipped by Walmart peak at $658 right now. There's a good warranty available but I've ridden a $500 one - it was extremely low power yet it rapidly chewed through its small 36V battery. The 48V moped looks a bit more likely to give more bang per buck, and its...

    Bafang's Proprietary Battery Port?

It turns out that Northeast Battery Systems owner Kevin has been trying to source Cusmade 1103B connectors for two years with no luck. Cutting one off a charger seems to me to be an overly expensive option...

    Bafang's Proprietary Battery Port?

I must've missed this post somehow - thanks! How did you come into this knowledge? Some new eunorau models are coming with these connectors, too. At least the 52V Flash e-mopeds are. I hope my battery guru Kevin at Northeast Battery Systems has or can source the 1103B. It seems they're...

Yamaha battery seems difficult to source and is a tad expensive....

Thanks Mike, mine is a HardNine 4.0, which I got new from Fly Rides for 70% off MSRP with free shipping. History seems to be repeating - Haibike predicted way higher sales than what transpired pretty much every year they were in the US market until just before COVID-19. At least that's how I...

Yamaha battery seems difficult to source and is a tad expensive....

How do you test capacity on old Yamaha batteries? I have a 7+ year old external one on my 2017 Haibike, which still has excellent range but I'd love to know more precisely what's left. Maybe Giant's app? Of course that wouldn't work on my Haibike 🤔

    Is Any E-Bike With A Throttle A Type 2 E-Bike?

Changes are coming in the USA... (Click to see.) The 3-Class ebike definition started in Cali in October 2015, and now they're clarifying things and planning to enforce more. The rest of the states will follow soon enough, just like they did the original law.

    Is Any E-Bike With A Throttle A Type 2 E-Bike?

You're correct, only Class 2 have throttles but the motors a governed at @20mph and limited to 750W max (same as Class 1s with no throttles). A throttled ebike that can go up to 28 mph or more or has a 750W+ motor is "Class 4," which is technically a scooter, moped or other type of motorbike...

Hub- vs. mid-drive for e-gravel/road bikes

Fixing a flat roadside is far easier with a mid-drive (just like on an unassisted bike) than a hub drive. Plus the gearing thing... Also, I don't know if I'd want a throttle on a drop-bar bike.

    Bafang's Proprietary Battery Port?

Here's all I wrote in my first inquiry yesterday: Here's what I got back (note that I have not yet re-responded): The first time I heard that Bafang had started offering its branded complete conversion kits in the US - battery, motor, etc - they was on eunarau's website well more than a year...

    Bafang's Proprietary Battery Port?

Thanks - this is a true 48v system that came with the REI Co-op 1.2 ebike, which is currently marked down to less than $1200 from $1900 (I got mine used for way less with under 100 miles). It's using Bafang's BT F35 battery (below), and I'm also thinking ahead to the day a new battery and/or...

    Bafang's Proprietary Battery Port?

I can't seem to track down an XT60 adapter to fit Bafang's new (?) propietary (??) charger port for its batteries (lower left of pic below). Does anyone know what it's called and who might carry it? I hope to use my 80-90-100 smart charger and don't want to splice this one to it.

Who is transporting their bike in the back of a station wagon, bike laying on its side?

Ebike motors, especially older Shimano e8000s like I have on my 2018 Commencal, should never be laid on their sides when freshly warm from a ride. Grease moves freely to places it ought'nt :(

Hello! and I think I want to build my very first ebike(compact cargo)!

Not that anyone enforces the laws yet, but Class 3 ebikes have no throttle, by definition: https://www.bosch-ebike.com/us/everything-about-the-ebike/stories/three-class-ebike-system#:~:text=Class%203%3A%20eBikes%20that%20are,assisted%20speed%20of%2028%20mph.
