You can lift just the back wheel if you want... but lifting both doesn't impede running the wheels motor Which particular one did you buy?

.... so maybe in your case it wasn't improper bleed on assembly. How many miles in 2 years? In any case a lever bleed is a good place...

As you have done... a lever bleed/top off typically solves this problem. This problem usually happens when a proper bleed isn't done...
