Schwalbe Johnny Watts (and other Schwalbe SUV tyres) User Club

As of today I've joined the Johnny Watts club. They replace a set of Smart Sam Actives that came on my CUBE Allroad and which I put 6,000 miles on.

Schwalbe Smart Sam: Tyres That Are Silent On-Road And Quite Aggressive Off-Road

I just replaced the original Smart Sam Active tires that came on my 2018 Cube Allroad. These "Active" tires are an "value" version of the regular Smart Sams and do not have the "GreenGuard" layer. Still, I put 6,000 miles on the tires, 90% on pavement and the rest on various trail surfaces. I...

Boschs Purion - "Change Display Battery"

Cleaning the batteries and battery contacts with alcohol would remove any contaminants like finger oil that might be interfering with the electrical connection to the display. It can't do any damage, and it's worth a try.

    No more flats

My first ebike had Slime tubes and Kenda tires, I rode it 5K miles without a flat. My current bike with Schwalbe tires had 3 flats the first thousand miles (2 front 1 rear). Then I put Stan's sealant in the tubes and have now gone 2K miles without a flat. I'm a fan of sealants!

My new e-Bike: Cube REACTION HYBRID Pro Allroad 500 (2018)

For what it's worth, I am so pleased with the handling and braking of this bike, I've already decided my next upgrade will be a 28 mph bike, hopefully with belt drive! Won't be for a couple of years though.

My new e-Bike: Cube REACTION HYBRID Pro Allroad 500 (2018)

I actually paid $2999 USD, but that was over a year ago.

    Thanks for reminder @Dhaner!

    Cordless Electric Lawn Mowers

I was able to revive my old mower for another season of duty at the cost of 50 cents for a couple of head bolts that vibrated out. But it's almost 30 years old and these E-Go mowers and accessories are sounding pretty good. But I have an expensive house repair to pay for first. Maybe next year!

Off-road hill climbing ability mid-drive vs rear hub

It's wet, but it's does not get sticky/gummy like some wet lubes I've used (Dumonde Tech in particular). The Seattle area is not very dusty and more amenable to wet lube than the Southwest!

Off-road hill climbing ability mid-drive vs rear hub

Dumonde Tech worked pretty well on my MTB and hub drive e-bike. On those bikes it lasted a long time although it tended to gunk up the drive train. I haven't tried it on my mid drive yet, because I decided to try Finish Line E-bike Chain Lube. Still under evaluation!

    Cordless Electric Lawn Mowers

@JRA I guess I shouldn't be surprised there are robotic mowers, but I am!

    Cordless Electric Lawn Mowers

Yep, I have already seen quite a few reviews stating it takes several charge cycles to mow an entire lawn, turning an hour's chore into an all day task. The cordless mowers I've looked at so far have interchangeable batteries that work with other yard appliances in the same system (e.g. string...

    Cordless Electric Lawn Mowers

What do you all think about cordless electric mowers? I need to replace my old 19" non-propelled gas mower for my city-sized lot. I can replace it with another gasser for around $200 but of course I am intrigued by electric! (I am interested only cordless - tried a corded mower for a while and...

Thule Easyfold XT2 - A good rack for ebikes and the best one if you have fenders

The hitch extension I linked is 1 1/4" to 1 1/4" and is for Class I and II hitches. The extension itself is rated at 175# TW (tow weight), which is the rating to be concerned about when using a hitch-mounted rack. When using a hitch extension, it is necessary to de-rate the hitch rating by 50%...
