    2019 Frey Fat AM1000

Your guess is correct, that was using throttle from the start. Not sure why they thought an abrupt start would be safe because it's definitely not.

    2019 Frey Fat AM1000

Yes, it’s true that the Bafang can be programmed — the interface cable is rather simple and affordable. That said, the only thing you can really program is the torque levels at various settings. From what I understand, yes, you can tune down walk assist (it’s some ridiculous setting like 20kph)...

What's it like to ride a fat bike?

Just wanted to chime in, the one thing I've been finding a bit more annoying lately is the noise that fat tires make. I have Jumbo Jims 4" just about everywhere and on pavement they are just too noisy. I plan to switch to some old BFLs I've got lying around. Also thinking maybe to try some of...

    2019 Frey Fat AM1000

This is a really late reply since I've only just noticed your comment, but I think I'll post anyway so others are aware of what the bike is like. Bike is unreasonably heavy. Both the battery and the motor are extremely heavy by today's standards. The fork that comes with the bike needs to be...

Best option right now? [Haibike FullFatSix]

So, just a small update on how things went. The response I got from my bike shop was to send them a photo or video of what's wrong with the motor. But of course that would require opening the motor and voiding the warranty, a typical catch-22. So I sent the motor to an independent repair shop...

Known Issues & Problems with Riese & Müller Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

Without knowing more about your requirements I would recommend the NC-17 Trekking handlebar. I have it on several bikes (including a R&M Delite GX) and find it perfect if you want to ride comfortably in an upright position.

Best option right now? [Haibike FullFatSix]

It is officially the case. Bosch is on the warpath, obviously trying to get people to either give up or move to the HS motors for extra cost.

Cassette durability! Convert to SRAM EX1? Try Rohloff E14, Nuvinci n360?

Here's an idea: what if you simply stock up on 11t cogs? They are cheap.

Neoprene Ebike Battery Covers for Cold Weather

I've been riding my bikes with and without these covers. In terms of cold, bikes work just fine down to –20°C without the covers. However, the covers provide an additional important benefit: they protect the batteries from dirt.

Cassette durability! Convert to SRAM EX1? Try Rohloff E14, Nuvinci n360?

Okay, well let me prefix this by saying that the Bafang Ultra is, ahem, a pretty bad motor. It's made infinitely worse by the default programming that it originally comes with. Its startup behavior is very abrupt, which puts unreasonable strain on the chain, leading to premature chain wear. Some...

    Disappointed by TSDZ2 torque-motor performance

From what I know, someone on Endless Sphere is promoting open-source firmware for TSDZ2, you might want to check it out.

Looking for Bafang Ultra tuning software

The standard tool for BBSHD series motors is called BafangConfigTool and is actually freely available. I have no trouble finding that. Problem is, G510 also has throttle control settings, which is why there is a different tool — the tool that Frey provides their customers. It's an...

Looking for Bafang Ultra tuning software

This is definitely not what I'm looking for. I already have the programming cable (just a serial-USB interface adapter), what I'm after is the software. It's a piece of software very similar to that for the BBS* series motors, but has the additional Torque page.

Best option right now? [Haibike FullFatSix]

No, I still prefer Yamaha to Bosch, simply because it handles more naturally. But this isn't a nice development, obviously, and it's made more complicated by the fact that Haibike wants (at least, they said so) the entire bike in order to fix the motor. I told them I can just remove the motor...
