The Super Delite is really a full suspension mountain bike with a rear rack. It’s a very capable bike. That said shedding weight is key, ultra light camping equipment and dehydrated food might help. The best option is a non-electric bike, go slower and push the bike up steep grades.
The Riese and Muller Superdelite with a Rohloff IGH and a front rack might met your needs. I use a dual battery Nevo with a Rohloff for bike touring on gravel roads. Loaded with camping gear on gravel roads and 3,000 feet of elevation gain I’ve gone 75 miles and had 40% of battery remaining. You...
If you look a little south to Santa Cruz there are quite a few great loops. Check out the Santa Cruz Cycling Club they have an extensive list of Ride With GPS rides. Although you might have to be a member to access the list.
We make it to the west coast. Took I-70 to Saint Louis then I-44 to Oklahoma City finally I-40 through New Mexico and Arizona. From there secondary roads to Death Valley. Death Valley was my first ride since a bike accident last August. It was a 30+ mile ride in 35mph winds and gusts of 55mph...
Oh Boy. Our route is I-70 to St Louis, I-44 to Oklahoma City the I-40 to Flagstaff. We will ride in Albuquerque, South rim of the Grand Canyon the Death Valley. We usually take I-40 then head south to I-10 but this year we want to avoid LA.
The storage on the left contains the kitchen items. With two doors, one facing out and one facing rear seats. The top unfolds out the door for a table. The cabinets clip in to the same connectors as the seats so easy to take in or out. They also slide left and right.
The solar generator seemed to be the easy to charge the bike batteries when camping without a plug-in. The small frig. also is powered by the 1500 w generator.
We travel in a minivan equipped with a bed, kitchen and 1500 watt solar generator. But in most cases stay in motels and tried to find 30 to 40 mile loop rides around the places we stopped.
Looking for loop rides in the southwest USA. Leaving Saturday from Pennsylvania traveling south to west Texas the west on either HWY 40 or 10. Our final destination is Santa Cruz. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Unfortunately Amtrak is not so friendly to ebikes and bikes with tires wider than 2”. It’s also first come first served with limited slots on the bike rack.
I’ve found the R&M Nevo to be a great touring bike. 4500 miles and no problems. For touring I install the front rack and carry 40 pounds of gear, I weigh 200 pounds and 73 years old.
