Took me a while to keep remembering to downshift coming to a stop. If you push the shift lever a bit further it drops down several gears at once instead of 1 at a time

I agree that many Ebikers are seniors or close to it but I'm seeing a big increase in overall Ebike adoption including commuters, young families in urban areas with reasonable infrastructure who are replacing cars with cargo Ebikes and e-MTB's.

Haven't tried off road with a NuVinci but can understand that sentiment. I find the NuVinci helpful when starting from a dead stop because you can downshift without pedaling. Never fun riding in traffic, coming to a stop and forgetting to shift to a lower gear.

I have an Evelo Quest Max folder has a throttle, mid drive, NuVinci transmission and gates belt. Pretty sure they have several models with same setup. www.evelo.com

As time goes on we will be seeing many advances in batteries, motors, power management chips, etc that will reduce costs and improve performance. The Pace 350/500 (I own both aLong with a few other brands) IMHO are 2 of the best entry level values on the market. See if there is a dealer nearby...

Pretty sure they changed the controller after 2014. I had (sold) a 2017 Platinum Interceptor had none of the issues you describe. Try a Specialized unless you need a throttle or a Rad City if you do.

Hard to make a comparison. Kinda like deciding between an Infiniti or a Mercedes. Both are great cars but have different appeal. Have you ridden an R&M?

No real bad hills but when I hit 20mph I’m like the gerbil in the spinning wheel😱
