Update - So it’s been a year now that I’ve had my Vado IGH 5.0 auto step through. My main use case has become going on picnics with my 4yr old 😅 rather than commuting. The step through has been perfect when mounting/dismounting with child seat in situ. I found that putting the child seat on the...
@Sopa hi, congrats and thank for sharing your impressions on the tero X 5.0. could you please tell me if the front sus fork is air or coil? I tried googling it and there are both coil and air variations of the rockshox 35 silver TK so none the wiser!
@Stefan Mikes i think I have made my mind up for my commute/occasional off road venture - Vado wins! I have put the order in.
I was just curious between the Tero 5.0 hardtail and any of the Tero X FS models. It's been tough finding a Tero 5.0 in the UK anyway and the Tero X is too new for me to...
Having spent a little time thinking about the Tero and Tero X - I am more inclined to invest in the Tero X - given that both are designed as a commuting/MTB fusion (not targeted for technically challenging routes) but the X has the FS which gives it the edge. Would the more seasoned...
Another super insightful post thanks @Rich W. I will be re-reading this to get my head around the gear ratios (total newbie here). What did you mean by one less cable in your post above?
I feel like I agree with you regarding the outlay in the T-reX @Prairie Dog not adding up with what the Tero...
The reduced cargo weight limit on the Tero X compared to the standard Tero is an issue for me but I must say I’ve developed a weak spot for that red onyx paint job. Full suspension at this price point is a definite plus. I’ll have to track one down for a test ride. Anyone lined a test ride up...
Thanks @Stefan Mikes that is the formula I was laying out in my earlier post to translate between the vado/como/Tero and the new Tero X engines.
PS - welcome to the dark side @Stefan Mikes (aka Tero X early adopter)
The harsh March continues in the UK and my heating bill (3month bill 2023...
While the Como, Vado and Tero kept the same motors at the 3.0, 4.0 and 5.0 levels, the Tero X has annoyingly increased the number by 1
So the same motor spec version +1 on the Tero X
Just to keep us on our toes.
I note the shortened mudguards/fender on the front wheel to boost its off-road...

@Rich W. did a nice summary of findings on the Tero X in post #79
A thought to one point raised by Rich - I guess putting a flatbed rear rack would be problematic with the rear suspension config as...
It has been very enlightening to be here asking my original question and learning of all the different experiences you have all kindly shared (thanks to all contributors). There is no one size fits all or one solution for all - is the ultimate summary. I hope anyone in the future reading this...
I know - I am totally veering off the original question I posted - Vado 5.0 IGH v Tero 5.0....
@Stefan Mikes yes, i tried following that link on post #74 but the next click wasn't working for me - so i couldn't get past the landing page from that link. Exciting times.
