Disabled due to injuries received on duty which cut my career short at the age of 46. I returned to cycling at the age of 70 after my physio recommended it after a heart attack. I have great difficulty walking due to quite severe cervical and lumbar spine injuries. Whilst on rehab I was using a cycling machine and realised I could use it quite comfortably unlike walking. After trying a normal bike I found it a little too much but then tried an ebike. The rest is history. My fitness levels have improved as has my mental outlook and although I still have great difficulty walking, cycling gets me out and about, albeit with the odd low speed wobble due to poor balance. I haven't uncovered my disability scooter in months!
