    2is company,3 is a racket!

@kevinmccune, how does it ride and handle? Does it pull to the low side of the road like most rigid trikes? Or does the fact that it is able to lean solve that problem? When you say it solves your balance problems, does that mean it stays upright or is it easy to tip over?

Do You Wear A Cap Underneath Your Bicycle Helmet?

I wear a cycling cap with a visor. My helmet feels more comfortable that way, and my helmet does not have a visor.

    e-trike retrofit for Gekko?

If you are interested in buying a used eTrike, I have one listed: iZip Tristar eTrike. Buying a used eTrike might be less expensive than converting your Gekko, and fewer headaches as well. I am located in San Diego. Pick-up only.

How Often And How Long Are Class 3 E-Bikes Traveling At More Than 20 MPH?

When I first got into ebikes more than eleven years ago, I felt the need to to de-restrict my Class 1 Haibike mountain bike, and I got a dongle so I could go faster than 20mph. About a year or two ago, I took it in for service and removed the dongle, just in case it was the culprit of my motor...

    Garmin Varia 515 malfunction

I bought a used Garmin Varia 315 for $38 plus tax and shipping on eBay. It works fine, although the battery seems to have lost some capacity. It is good for about four to five hours. Right now, there is a new 515 for $125 plus tax and shipping on eBay.

How many riders use a single wheel trailer for hauling stuff?

Nine years ago I used a Burley Travoy trailer, which is two-wheeled, but I suspect you may have similar problems with a one-wheel trailer. I had to slow down, way down, when taking corners. Otherwise, the trailer would flip. I prefer using a cargo bike thiese days.

Help deciding when to switch to an ebike?

That fellow's problem is comparing himself to others. There is no need to do that. Back to the OP's question, I bought my first e-bike in 2015 when I was 70, and have not looked back. I now have three ebikes, one mountain, one cargo, one city. Ebikes have allowed me to climb long, steep hills...

Carrying photography gear on a ride

ThinkTank has a line of camera cubes called Stash Master. The smallest one (23.5 x 21 x 14 cm) is accessed from the top, so you can leave it inside the pannier when getting your gear out. It seems to be tall enough to stack two extra lenses on top of each other, with a suitable separator, plus a...

Carrying photography gear on a ride

Yes, the ThinkTank holsters go inside the Ortlieb panniers, two per pannier, on my mountain ebike. The panniers attach to an Old Man Mountain rear rack. I have been doing this for eleven years. No camera has ever been scratched, even as I have fallen off my bike several times and got bruised...

Carrying photography gear on a ride

I use the Ortlieb Bike-Packer Plus. I put cameras and lenses inside ThinkTank holsters. I also have padded lens tubes.

Carrying photography gear on a ride

Personally, I think that carrying a camera on your chest would be uncomfortable. I even found a camera backpack uncomfortable. That is why ten years ago I switched to panniers, with cameras and lenses inside padded holsters. Four years ago I got a cargo bike, which is even better, with front and...

    My Radwagon 5 arrived

Nice! Too many mirrors for me, but to each their own. How is Rad doing? If they come out of Chapter 11 smaller and stronger, perhaps you will be able to get parts in the future.

New ebike laws in California taking effect January 1, 2026

Certification of new batteries, 750-watt absolute power limit (even for peak moments), blinking rear red light, helmets for certain ages, and other requirements.

How many miles a year do you ride?

In ten years of riding ebikes I average between 3,000 and 4,000 miles per year. I ride four times per week, sometimes more, some times less. I just enjoy riding without tracking my mileage, my speed, my time, or my altitude.

Forum software is adding product links to product names mentioned in posts. Thoughts?

I propose we insert a random character such as an exclamation point or a question mark in the middle of any brand name to gum up the AI works.
