Hypotheticals - would you replace your R&M with another R&M??

The hub motor on the Stromer is a flawless implementation that uses a TMM torque sensor to regulate how much assistance to provide based on how hard you’re pedaling. The effect is it feels like a regular bike that reacts instantly to your effort while making your legs feel supremely powerful...

Hypotheticals - would you replace your R&M with another R&M??

I replaced my Superdelite Rohloff with a Stromer ST5 and later a Stromer ST7 with Pinion shifter. The Stromer is a far more enjoyable machine than the Superdelite. It’s faster, sleeker and substantially more powerful. I can ride up my hill at 22 mph, while my Superdelite barely made it to 14...

Ahhh, yes - my dealer mentioned that was a problem on the early bikes and they were having to replace them often. Glad you’re enjoying your bike. It really is a fun ride!

I'm on my third ST7, which I got about a month ago, after the first two completely died. The first two, while they were still working, had the S mode high-temperature shut-off issue. S mode would shut off within 60-seconds on a steep hill climb. My third ST7 does not appear to have this issue. I...

Yeah, all's well that ends well, I suppose. What went wrong with your bike?

Not the $10k bikes. The $15k ones 🤣

Good for you. I haven’t been as fortunate. I just received my third (!) ST7 About two weeks ago. The first two died (the electronics shorted out) and were not repairable. The first one died at about 300 miles, the second at 500 miles. The new one is noticeably better — the S mode stays on when...

Yes, I agree the S mode on the ST7 is effectively just a marketing gimmick since it doesn't provide much value in the real world. My bigger problem turned out to be something much worse. My ST7 developed a problem where it wouldn’t provide power to motor the morning after rides where the motor...

I find the ST7 to be quite similar in performance to the ST5, though a tad faster when really pushing it. I had a nephew riding my ST5 for a few days, with me on my ST7, and he was able to keep up with me on all kinds of hills and flats. I can easily pedal my ST7 to 29 mph, and with some effort...

That's a bummer. Sounds like something your dealer will have to address. :-(

Thanks, Jason. Good to know you’re not having the issues I’m having. Your hill looks less challenging than mine, but also the climb was only about 90 seconds, which is right about the time S-mode turns off on my bike. I did see a post on Stromer’s Instagram account by someone having the same...

    New Stromer flagship ST7

Minor but annoying issues with ST7 After a few months with my ST7, I'm generally quite happy with it. It's a fast, fun ride and I ride it just about every day. The two annoying issues I have with it are: 1) I need to climb a fairly steep 700 ft incline to get back to my house. On my ST5, I...

It doesn't close with the battery removed on my ST7. I generally tape it closed with painters' tape. Maybe on new ones?

Thanks for sharing, Jason. I agree that it's generally a good idea to remove the battery -- it is safer (in some states the cops may stop you due to fire risk in case of accident), and the bike will be about 20 lbs lighter on the rack.
