  • Hey Ravi what do you recommend for a alternative fork for the CrossCurrent? The Suntour isn't so easy to maintain, the blue speed lock is damn near impossible to take off without breaking it.

    Hi Robert,
I would advise you to get RockShox Paragon Gold. It's an excellent fork.
Ravi .... Bob Stoltz here, we spoke when I first purchased my ST2. I was wondering how much it would cost to upgrade my ST2 with D12. Is that possible?

    Hi Bob,
Changing to XTR Di2 would require some changes in regards the cabling. Unless you're in a very hilly terrain and shift quite a lot, I don't think you will notice any difference. It's quite expensive too.
btw, what are the requirements ? Time limit one year? No drafting, check. Throttle vs PAS matter?
    Ravi Kempaiah
    Ravi Kempaiah
Throttle or PAS don't matter. They don't distinguish.
No drafting whatsoever. Since my ride was supported, every second of my ride had to be video documented. Lots of other paper work.
I will be writing a detailed article once I submit all my proof.

Also, if there is a break for more than 12 days, detailed documentation needs to be provided. Any breaks will have to documented. There are several regulations re: paper work, video proof, signature proof etc.
How is your recovery going? I saw where you had several 200+ mile days in a row! That's 9-10 hours a day! Wow.

    That's a lot of energy.

Thanks. Those 9-10 hours are just moving times. The total time on the saddle comes to 11-12hours. Some days were very challenging. Now, I am seriously thinking of taking professional biking, the endurance races.
    Ravi,

My hats is off to you. That is a tough feet, supported or not! I followed the Troy Rank blog, which was amazing as well, unsupported, video editing, camping, etc. But he did use a throttle and was not PAS all the way.
    Ravi,

I just saw yesterday where you broke the record, congrats! Somehow in the summer hustle, I missed your whole event!

I caught up on Lenny's blog last night. What a feat. That's a lot of pedaling, yes?

FMI, what are the requirements for your record? I wonder because of the other "world record" claims. Is the requirements within 35 days?

I look forward to more blog info!

    Hi Dan,
The record is for the longest journey on a motorized bicycle. 30 days was my personal goal, however, Guinness has no time limit. If I did that in 3 months, it wouldn't be challenging enough.
I should receive the final approval in about a month or so.
Hey Ravi, congrats on the 5000!

As you are familiar with MD shops, I was wondering if you had visited any of these: Race Pace, Hybrid Pedals, Bob's Bikes in Poolesville, or Electricity Bikes? As I am a bike newbie, I would like to deal with a good, honest shop that won't try and pull fast ones on me.

    Thanks for any help!

    Hi Berry,
I lived in College Park for 3 years and pretty much know most E-bike shops there. Feel free to call me if you have any specific questions. My # is 408-250-5625.
Ravi, Bob Stoltz here. I'm so proud of your accomplishment ... wow. You are a great advocate for e-biking. I can't tell you how much it meant to me when you called me to discuss a pulsing issue with my ST2. You are a class act. Will you be staying a Crazy Lenny's. Again well done ..... Bob Stoltz

It's alright. I need to work some things out and upgrade some stock crappy components. Other than that its good.

I really like the people at New Wheel but not so much the Kalkhoff US management. I was in touch with them last year and the way they treated me completely dissuaded me from ever considering a Kalkhoff bike.

Stromer Sport's console show my battery at 100% constantly. I have been riding around for 3 days covering about 20 miles and the battery has not dropped down from a 100% when I know it should be less than 1/2 charged. It's unsettling because I never know what the charge % is. When I just now plugged in to the charger, it does still make the humming sound as if it is charging. Any thoughts?
Ravi you seem like the man to as about M1 SPORTTECHNIK, have you given the ERZBERG S-Pedelec a try? What are your thoughts? It has the Go SwissDrive 500W hub motor, strong enough to pull my 230 pounds up a hill?

As much as I like the guys at Motostrano, I would not suggest you buy that bike.
It has very weak battery and GoSwiss hub drive is not the most efficient climber out there. M1 has discontinued that model and it uses wireless interface which is not as robust as a cable connection.
    Go for the Spitzing, instead.

THANK YOU. Saved me long expensive trip. Now if I could afford the Spitzing - What is the currant sales price of a kidney?
We live next to a 2000ft climb, popular with roadies. It is so much fun to smoke them uphill. I will get a new front chain ring in the future so my top speed downhill can increase. Is it possible to go faster than 30mph with the St1 ? With all that regenerative stuff happening? Do I regenerate more with rear braking or just letting the bike go with no braking on these long downhill's that we have here in AZ. ?
    Ravi Kempaiah
    Ravi Kempaiah
If you use 32-11 cassette and a larger chain ring, it is possible to maintain 28mph but maintaining 30mph might be tough.

Hey Ravi, didn't you show me a website recently where they sell a bike very much like the Falcon but it's a Taiwanese website and the shipping basically evened out vs. buying in the US? What was this website? PS. No worries on not posting in Deals, I moved it no problem ;)
